The experience was inspired both by the Titanic’s actual voyage and the iconic Hollywood film starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. Their portrayals of Jack Dawson and Rose DeWitt Bukater have become an enduring part of popular culture, and James Cameron’s film brought home to audiences the passengers’ plight and the ship’s majesty. Just like in the film, in this immersive space, everyone can feel part of this story.
It is an immersive 4D VR journey that begins on board a futuristic research vessel descending into the dark depths of the Atlantic Ocean. Participants in the expedition dive to a depth of almost 3,800 metres to reach the resting place of the Titanic – one of the most fascinating wrecks in history. During the exploration, you can see artefacts found in the ocean depths – items that once belonged to the ship’s passengers and crew, which, after more than a century, still tell the stories of the people travelling to the New World in 1912.
Thanks to VR technology, visitors are also transported back in time and can see what the Titanic looked like during its maiden voyage. The reconstructions allow you to explore various parts of the ship – from third-class cabins, through the impressive engine room, to the lifeboat deck and the monumental Grand Staircase, a symbol of the era’s luxury. You can see the prestigious first-class interiors, just as in the film, and meet characters portrayed by live actors in the VR experience, whose gestures and emotions transport the viewer right into the heart of the dramatic events.
During this journey, the stories of the people on board also come to life – emigrants setting off for America in search of a better life, crew members responsible for the ship’s operations, and passengers travelling in luxurious conditions. One of the characters is also cinema pioneer William Harbeck, who set out on the maiden voyage to film the Titanic and its passengers. Participants experience the evacuation and the drama of the individual choices that determined the fate of the people on board, even though William’s footage has unfortunately not survived.
The climax of the experience is a return to the events that have gone down in world history – the moment when the iceberg appears on the horizon. This poignant encounter with the past allows visitors to view the story of the Titanic from a new perspective and serves as a reminder of dreams, ambitions and the fragility of human fate.
